 Marine Corps Emblem Additional Information:

First Capitol Detachment is headquartered in York, Pennsylvania. The Second Continental Congress - pushed from Philadelphia by the British in 1777 - convened in YorkTown to the West of the Susquehanna River for nine months. During that period, Washington's troops won the Battle of Saratoga, prompting the Congress to proclaim the first National Day of Thanksgiving. Additionally, the Congress adopted the Articles of Confederation - the young nation's first constitution - which allows York to claim the title of the First Capitol of the United States.
